Honduras

At Covenant Creek, we want to be actively engaged in feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, clothing the naked, giving care to the sick, and visiting the prisoner.  We find that most people want to help, they just need an easy way to plug in to a ministry they can trust.

Covenant Creek has established a partnership with Heart to Honduras, a ministry devoted to ministry to the “least of these” in Honduras.  Based out of Xenia, Ohio, Heart to Honduras has served the church in Honduras for over twenty years. The ministry partners with the local churches and church leaders in some of poorest communities in one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. Their work is rich and diverse, with leadership in everything from holistic community development, medical and construction trips led by North American churches, ministry to orphans and widows, a two-year School of Discipleship, and mentorship of the Brazos Abiertos church network.

We are excited to be part of an engagement concept called the Model Village, where holistic efforts are applied to provide for the most basic needs of the most vulnerable members of a community. The goal is to equip the local church to lead their communities in breaking the cycle of poverty, and to become a model of opportunity for other communities in the area. Driven by the local church in partnership with community leadership, development efforts begin at the ground level to provide the most basic needs, and end with a community self-sustained and thriving with economic infrastructure and productivity on its own.  For example, we are presently working to provide clean drinking water to a village that currently goes days at a time without access to even unclean water.  We want to be a part of sharing the ever present witness of a loving Christ who cares for the earthly and eternal needs of each person, each family, each community and each nation.  We want to share the message of the Gospel through word and deed.
‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ [Matthew 25:40]
